Reliance Jio Now Has 5G Network Across All District Headquarters Of Gujarat. Know All About It

Reliance Jio has said it is rolling out Jio "True 5G" to all 33 district headquarters of Gujarat.

Jio is the only operator in India that is currently offering 5G on a standalone network.

Telecom operator Reliance Jio, which launched its 5G services in October, has said it is rolling out Jio "True 5G" to all 33 district headquarters of Gujarat, thus, making it the only state in the country to get 100 per cent Jio "True 5G" network coverage. 

“Gujarat holds a special place, as it is Reliance’s Janmabhoomi. This strategic announcement is a dedication to Gujarat and its people," the telecom operator was quoted as saying in a statement.

“Starting 25th November, Jio users in Gujarat will be invited to the Jio Welcome Offer, to experience Unlimited Data at up to 1Gbps+ speeds, at no additional cost", the company added.

The telco calls its 5G services "True 5G" because it is the only network operator in the country that is currently offering 5G on a standalone network.

“We are proud to share that Gujarat is now the first state to have 100 per cent district headquarters connected with our robust True 5G network. We want to showcase the real power of this technology and how it can impact a billion lives," Akash M Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, according to broadband speed research firm Ookla, Reliance Jio's 5G network has shown a top median download speed of close to 600 Mbps, while Bharti Airtel's network has posted a top speed of about 516 Mbps. This means a two-hour high definition movie which is generally around 6 GB file size can be downloaded in 1 minute 25 seconds and a 4K movie in about 3 minutes at a top speed of 600 Mbps.

The 5G services were officially launched on October 1, but Ookla has taken measurements since June 2022.

To recall, Reliance Jio announced rolling out its beta trial of True-5G services on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra in early October in four cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Varanasi. "Dussehra symbolises the triumph over hurdles caused by legacy technologies such as 2G, with knowledge and wisdom that Jio True 5G will genuinely enable," the company had said.

Reliance Jio boasts the largest wireless spectrum for 5G across three bands -- 700MHz, 3,500MHz, and 26GHz. This will offer the telecom operator an added advantage over other telcos in terms of coverage.
