iOS 18 Likely To Copy Some AI Features From One UI 6.1, Claims Samsung

Apple is rumoured to introduce a unit converter to the Calculator app in iOS 18, a feature already available in the Samsung Calculator app.

A number of features powered by artificial intelligence (AI) were seen in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series this year and it was very well received by the users as well. Apple does not want to be left behind in terms of the AI race. According to several reports, iOS 18 is believed to be heavily loaded with AI features and it is possible that some of them will be inspired by Samsung only. The AI features that iOS 18 will bring might include the ability to summarise webpages in the Safari web browser akin to what is offered in Samsung Internet's Browsing Assist feature.

What AI Features Can We Expect In iOS 18?

The new 'Web Eraser' feature might also be copied which will allow users to remove certain elements from web pages.

Samsung in a blog wrote that the Notes app in iOS 18 is likely to incorporate audio recording functionality, eliminating the need to switch to the Voice Memos app. This mirrors the voice recording feature in Samsung Notes, enabling students to jot down notes and record lectures simultaneously for added context.

Additionally, Apple is rumoured to introduce a unit converter to the Calculator app in iOS 18, a feature already available in the Samsung Calculator app. Apple aims to take this a step further by integrating the Calculator app with the Notes app.

Other speculated features of iOS 18 include automatic playlist generation in Apple Music, a new Scenes feature in the Canvas app, and AI-driven functionalities in Apple Health.

The Keynote, Numbers, and Pages apps are also expected to receive generative AI capabilities to enhance productivity. While rumours suggest AI features in Fitness, Mail, and Photos apps as well, specific details remain unclear. It's plausible that users might gain access to more intricate editing tools in the Photos app akin to Samsung's Photo Assist feature.

Furthermore, Samsung wrote that the iOS 18 is anticipated to introduce RCS support to the Messages app, facilitating higher-quality instant messaging with Android users. With RCS support, iPhone users will bridge the messaging gap with Galaxy phone users, who already enjoy RCS capabilities in their stock Messages app.
