New Delhi: Meta (formerly Facebook) owned Instagram is testing the ability to share longer videos of up to 60 seconds. First spotted by Matt Navarra, the video-sharing platform is sending notifications to a small group of people about the change. This is being seen as a much-needed upgrade on the part of Instagram as it aims to rival Snapchat that also does not let users share long videos in a single upload.

Currently, ByteDance owned TikTok is the most popular standalone app for content creators to edit their videos, and it is no surprise that Instagram also working towards attracting more creators by introducing the ability to share longer videos. TikTok was banned in India last year.
According to some reports, the Meta-owned photo-sharing platform is using a new interface while creating a story to post that makes it easier to add elements like location or tags to other accounts.
Meanwhile, Meta will not introduce end-to-end encryption for chats on its flagship messaging platform Messenger and Instagram until 2023. The Meta-owned platform reportedly hit two billion monthly active users before Facebook rebranded itself into Meta, but did not officially disclose these figures. Instagram has not made its user numbers public since it crossed the one billion monthly active mark in June 2018.
WhatsApp messaging app already uses end-to-end encryption and Facebook Messenger has encrypted voice and video calls only.
