As India Smashes Pakistan, JioHotstar Viewership Appears To Have Broken All Previous Records By A Mile

As per early figures, over 60.2 crore (602 million) viewers tuned in to watch the action live, making it one of the most-streamed cricket matches in history.

IND vs PAK: India delivered a commanding performance against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025, securing a six-wicket victory in Dubai. The highlight of the match was Virat Kohli’s unbeaten century (100*), marking his 51st ODI ton. This win extends India’s unbroken streak against Pakistan in ODIs since the 2017 Champions Trophy final, bringing their head-to-head record to 6-0 in this period. Pakistan, on the other hand, now faces the possibility of an early exit from the tournament.

Amidst all that, there seems to be another record that has been broken by the digital streaming platform JioHotstar.

60.2 Crore Live Viewers

The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan witnessed record-breaking viewership on the JioHotstar platform. As per early figures, over 60.5 crore (605 million) viewers tuned in to watch the action live, making it one of the most-streamed cricket matches in history.

For comparison, the India-Pakistan encounter in 2023 garnered 17.3 crore (173 million) television viewers and 22.5 crore (225 million) digital viewers on Disney+ Hotstar, now rebranded as JioHotstar, according to reports citing BARC data.

The peak concurrency for that match stood at 7.6 crore (76 million) on television and 3.5 crore (35 million) on digital platforms.

Previous high-profile clashes between India and Pakistan have consistently drawn massive audiences. The 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final attracted an estimated 40 crore (400 million) viewers, while their group-stage game in the same tournament had 32.4 crore (324 million) viewers.

Meanwhile, the iconic 2011 World Cup semi-final remains one of the most-watched cricket matches ever, amassing a staggering 49.5 crore (495 million) viewers.

Beyond the Indo-Pak rivalry, other notable cricket matches have also captured significant attention. The India vs England Test match, which saw England pull off a historic victory, garnered over 6 lakh viewers on TNT Sports, as per a Sunday Times UK report. Additionally, the India-England Test series in 2021 accumulated a total of 10.3 crore (103 million) views, according to Hindustan Times.

JioHotstar Subscription Plans

JioHotstar offers both ad-supported and premium subscription plans. The ad-supported plans start at Rs 149 for three months and Rs 499 for a full year. For an ad-free experience, premium plans are available at Rs 299 per month, Rs 499 for three months, and Rs 1,499 annually.

The platform’s increasing popularity is a testament to the growing digital consumption of live sports in India.
