In a bid to make it easier for users to search for train tickets and more, Google is rolling out a range of travel features and products.
In a bid to make it easier for users to search for train tickets and more, Google is rolling out a range of travel features and products and the most interesting of them is the ability to shop for train tickets via Google Search. The ability to book train tickets directly on Google Search is rolling out in Germany, Spain, Italy and Japan.
Google is working to expand this feature to more countries in future and it is likely that the feature becomes available in India too, with the railways network. Google is also mulling to start testing a similar feature for bus tickets in the near future to give more choices to users for intercity travel.
"With new filters for both flights and hotels, it’s easier to find more sustainable options. If you want to view only flights that have lower emissions compared to the average for similar trips, simply tap the 'Low Emissions' filter on Google Flights.
"Meanwhile, Google Flights is getting a new Emissions filter that lets you choose between 'Any' or 'Low emissions only'. This is 'compared to the average for similar trips'. It joins similar efforts in Google Maps for eco-friendly routing and EV optimization," Richard Holden, Vice President of Travel Products, Google, said in a statement.
According to Google, a recent research says that people want to make sustainable choices when they travel, but they often lack the information needed to do so. Aiming to solve this problem, Google has embedded sustainability into our travel tools over the past year. For example, now users can see estimated carbon emissions on Google Flights, and when they search for hotels, the can find an eco-label on properties that carry a certification from a trusted third-party group.
