Google & Samsung To Partner For "Exciting Things", Tease Upcoming AI Features

The SVP, Platforms and Devices at Google, said that the companies’ “partnership has never been stronger.”

The partnership between Google and Samsung extends beyond Android. Google's Pixel lineup uses Samsung-manufactured Tensor chips. The flagship Galaxy smartphones from Samsung got AI features, like Circle to Search, before even the Pixel 8 series. Both smartphone makers have now teased upcoming AI features. The SVP, Platforms and Devices at Google, said that the companies’ “partnership has never been stronger.”

The SVP, Rick Osterloh, in a post on X, said, “Had a terrific conversation with TM and @SamsungMobile leadership. Our partnership has never been stronger. I'm thrilled about our collaboration on AI and the many opportunities ahead for both companies.”

He shared a selfie with TM Roh, president and head of MX Business, Samsung Electronics, in the post. Samsung reposted Osterloh’s post and teased that the companies are working on AI features for Android and Galaxy devices. Samsung tweeted, “Our collaboration with Google continues as we work towards a shared vision of delivering the best Android ecosystem of products and services. Exciting things are coming up for the future of AI-powered Android and Galaxy experiences."

Inclusion Of Google Gemini In Galaxy Smartphones

During the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose this January, Google revealed its collaboration with Samsung for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series. This partnership involves the integration of Gemini AI models to enhance the next wave of AI functionalities across Samsung's applications and services. Notably, Google also introduced new capabilities for Google Messages and Android Auto, leveraging Gemini Nanotechnology.

Samsung has harnessed the power of AI through its Smarter Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard apps, utilizing the advanced Gemini Pro AI model to provide enhanced summaries and functionalities. Furthermore, the Galaxy S24 integrates Google's Imagen 2 text-to-image technology, enabling innovative "Generative Edit" features within the Gallery app for an elevated photo editing experience.
