WhatsApp Is Limiting Ability On Message Forwards Again. Check Details

In a bid to check the spread of misinformation, Meta-owned WhatsApp is working to set a limit on forwards in WhatsApp group chats.

New Delhi: In a bid to check the spread of misinformation, Meta-owned WhatsApp is working to set a limit on forwards in WhatsApp group chats. The world's most popular messaging platform is enabling new restrictions when forwarding forwarded messages to other group chats on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS users, according to WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo.

"After announcing new tools for voice notes in a future version of WhatsApp available for everyone soon, WhatsApp is now enabling new restrictions when forwarding forwarded messages to other group chats on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS," WABetaInfo wrote on its page recently.

WhatsApp had earlier put a restriction in 2018 on the number of times WhatsApp messages could be forwarded on the platform.

"WhatsApp has introduced a new restriction when forwarding messages in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.7.2 update: the new limitation prevents users to send forwarded messages to more than one group chat. Today, WhatsApp is introducing the same limitation on the recent versions of WhatsApp for iOS," WABetaInfo added.

It should be noted that the new limitation on WhatsApp forwards has been already rolled out to certain Android beta testers, but WhatsApp is now enabling the same restriction to more users that install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.11 update. More users will receive the same changes in the coming weeks.

The Meta-owned company was last month said to be working on a feature that will let users manually change the app's language. The feature will essentially work by letting the user manually override the system default, according to WhatsApp beta tracker, WABetaInfo. The world's most popular messaging platform, WhatsApp is already available in more than 60 languages for Android devices.
