Tecno Phantom V Flip Launching This Month: Know Details Here

Tecno's flip phone will be called Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G and it will be officially unveiled globally on September 22.

Handset maker Tecno is set to launch its first flip phone, Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G, months after launching the Tecno Phantom V Fold, the first smartphone to launch under Rs 1 lakh. The Tecno Phantom V Fold is likely to take on the likes of the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 (read our review here: Do More With Less) Flips and the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. Global foldable smartphone shipments are projected to cross 100 million by 2027, with Samsung and Apple likely to dominate the segment, according to market research firm Counterpoint Research.

Tecno's flip phone will be called Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G and it will be officially unveiled globally on September 22. The smartphone may come with a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset, unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It may sport a purple colour, as revealed by Amazon India microsite that has gone live. The "Made in India" smartphone is likely to be launched in black and blue colour variants too, according to the teaser. The microsite further reveals that the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G with purple-coloured edges.

Tipster Paras Guglani had previously shared a detailed spec sheet of the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G, which has the model number AD11. Expected specs of the Tecno Phantom V Flip include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt memory. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes in two storage variants — 8GB+256GB and 8GB+512GB.

The phone may ship with Android 13 OS out of the box. The Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G is likely to come with a 4,000mAh battery. Other connectivity options may include USB-C port, 5G, and Bluetooth 5.3. Running Android 13 out-of-the-box with One UI 5.1.1 on top, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 supports one nano SIM and one eSIM. In terms of sensors, there is the usual lot of side-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensors, and light sensor. 

A key highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, a key competition, is the rehinged design. The cover screen, which Samsung calls Flex Window, is noticeable and much bigger than last year's Z Flip 4's Cover Display. It’s a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 60Hz and a resolution of 720x748.
