Galaxy Unpacked 2023: Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Launched

Samsung at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event in Seoul, South Korea launched two new smartwatches — Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. While the vanilla model boasts of a "refined and sleek design" and a slim bezel, the Classic model boasts of a traditional design, marked by the South Korean tech giant's trademark rotating bezel. Both the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classi would let users access a wider selection of versatile watch faces as well as new band options.

The new Galaxy Watch 6 series comes with an in-depth analysis of Sleep Score Factors — total sleep time, sleep cycle, awake time, plus physical and mental recovery — to help users understand the quality of sleep received each night, something that Apple and Fitbit have been already doing. More individualised Sleep Messages, co-developed with the National Sleep Foundation, also provide users with detailed feedback about their sleep health each morning. Galaxy Watch 6 also offers Sleep Consistency showing how consistent the user’s sleep and wake times are, and a designated Sleep Animal Symbol representing their sleep type.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, Galaxy Watch 6 Price, Availability

The starting price of the Galaxy Watch 6 has been set at $299 (which is almost Rs 24,500). The starting price of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has been set at $399 (almost Rs 32,700). Both the new smartwatch models are available for pre-order in select markets starting July 26. They would go on sale starting August 11. The Galaxy Watch 6 has been launched in 40mm and 44mm sizes in Bluetooth and LTE variants. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic comes with 43mm and 47mm dials.

The new Galaxy watches also come with a Personalized Heart Rate Zone feature that analyses individual physical capabilities and defines five optimal running intensity levels to help users set their own goals based on their ability — from burning fat to high-intensity workouts. In addition to over 100 existing workout trackers, the newly added Track Run records the user’s runs on a track, while Custom Workout allows users to build and track their personalized workout routine.

The 40mm and 44mm of the Galaxy Watch 6 come with 300mAh and 400mAh batteries, respectively while the 43mm and 47mm models of Galaxy Watch 6 Classic also pack the same 300mAh and 400mAh batteries, respectively. samsung says the smartwatches offer up to 30 hours of battery life with AOD on and up to 40 hours with AOD off. The Galaxy Watch 6 Series comes with Google's Wear OS-based One UI 5 Watc.
