New Delhi: Former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei's consumer technology company Nothing's first smartphone will be launching this summer, the company announced on Wednesday. Nothing's first smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon mobile platform, and will be the second device in the company’s product ecosystem. Nothing's event also highlighted Pei's vision and did not reveal further details about the upcoming smartphone.

“We’re building the most compelling alternative to Apple. If you want products that connect and work seamlessly together, the only choice is Apple. The MacBook, the iPhone, the AirPods, they work together the way you want. But as soon as you leave that ecosystem for a Windows PC or an Android phone, it breaks down,” Pei said during the event.

The company also released a series of images of Nothing OS, the proprietary it plans to ship with Nothing Phone 1. "Staying true to Nothing’s founding mission, Nothing OS is built on an open and seamless ecosystem that will effortlessly connect and integrate Nothing products and products from other world-leading brands," the company said in a statement.

According to Pei, Nothing OS will focus on making the device fast, will feature minimum bloatware and with feature a harmonious design.

"Nothing OS captures the best features of pure Android, distilling the operating system to just the essentials, where every byte has a purpose. It is designed to deliver a fast, smooth and personal experience. A coherent interface, the hardware seamlessly integrates with software through bespoke fonts, colours, graphical elements and sounds. A first preview of Nothing OS will be available via its launcher that will be available to download on select smartphone models from April."
