Elon Musk's Grok AI Is Now Available In India At Nearly Double The Price Of ChatGPT Plus
It is important to note that Grok AI is currently in its early access phase and is exclusively accessible within the most premium X subscription plan.
Elon Musk's artificial intelligence platform, xAI, has announced the global expansion of its generative AI chatbot, Grok AI, to include India and 46 other countries, such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Notably, Musk's social media company X, formerly known as Twitter, recently updated its users on the gradual rollout of Grok AI chatbot access to Premium+ subscribers in the United States. The announcement for the global rollout was first shared on December 14, and now the AI tool is available to anyone who wishes to pay up to Rs 2,600 per month (since access to Grok is only available for subscribers to X Premium+).
Grok Prices For X Premium+ Users In India
Priced at Rs 2,299 per month or Rs 22,900 annually, Grok AI's subscription fee far surpasses that of ChatGPT Plus when accessed through a smartphone (priced at $20 or roughly Rs 1,650 per month — nearly double). However, for users opting to subscribe via a desktop and availing of the X Premium+ package, the monthly cost is reduced to Rs 1,300, with an annual commitment of Rs 13,600.
It is important to note that Grok AI is currently in its early access phase and is exclusively accessible within the most premium X subscription plan, positioning it as a high-end offering in the evolving landscape of AI subscription services.
Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, expressed enthusiasm about Grok's extended reach, stating on December 14, "Grok is now gracing the world in even more countries, spreading knowledge and laughter far and wide. The future is looking brighter already!"

In a previous announcement in November, xAI highlighted Grok's unique features, including its ability to respond with humour and its "rebellious nature." The company underscored Grok's real-time information capabilities, drawing data from the micro-blogging platform X. xAI also emphasized Grok's capacity to address questions typically declined by mainstream AI chatbots.

Grok, built on xAI's proprietary large language model (LLM) named Grok-0, boasts an impressive 33 billion parameters. According to xAI, Grok-0 surpasses the performance of OpenAI's ChatGPT based on the GPT 3.5 language model (free version).
It's important to note that shortly after its U.S. launch, Grok faced controversy, particularly when tasked with roasting Elon Musk. True to its "rebellious streak," Grok referred to Musk as a "delicate flower" and critiqued various aspects of Musk's behaviour, including his fixation on "x" and the rapid changes observed in the former Twitter since Musk's acquisition last year.
