Delhi Metro To Bring High-Speed Internet Access Across All Routes, Pink & Magenta Line To Be The First In Line

The project is expected to facilitate the seamless rollout of 5G services throughout the Delhi-NCR region.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has partnered with a telecommunications firm to enhance internet connectivity across its entire network, according to an official announcement made on Friday. Under this collaboration, Beckhaul Digital Technologies Private Limited will deploy 700 kilometers of fiber optic cables along all metro corridors, including the Airport Express Line.

The implementation of this project will take place in phases, with the Pink and Magenta Lines being the first to benefit from the upgraded network. The remaining metro lines are expected to be equipped with the infrastructure within the next six months. The newly installed fiber network will serve as a foundation for high-speed internet, benefiting telecom providers, internet service companies, data centres, and various smart city initiatives.

Additionally, the project is expected to facilitate the seamless rollout of 5G services throughout the Delhi-NCR region.

Digital Transformation & Connectivity

This initiative aligns with the Indian government’s vision of strengthening digital connectivity across the country. By leveraging DMRC’s extensive infrastructure, telecom operators will be able to provide faster and more stable internet access to commuters and residents alike. The advanced network is set to address the growing demand for high-speed connectivity, ensuring a smoother transition to 5G technology.

With internet usage on the rise and the push for digital transformation gaining momentum, the project is seen as a significant step toward making Delhi a more connected and technologically advanced city. The improved connectivity will not only enhance the daily commute experience for metro passengers but also contribute to the broader goal of establishing a robust digital infrastructure for the capital and its surrounding areas.
