Online Classes To Continue For Now As Reopening Of Schools Is Far Fetched In Tamil Nadu

Education Minister Anbil Mahesh said strict action will be taken on private schools for demanding 100 per cent fee

Chennai: If there are sectors that are severely affected due to pandemic, one of it should be education sector. With schools shut due to continuous lockdowns children strive to make attend online classes. It’s been more than a year since the schools were shut. However, some state government’s made efforts to start the schools for higher secondary classes it again got hit due to second wave of Covid-19. 

Tamil Nadu government will take a call on reopening of schools after a careful consideration of lockdown relaxations and that is adversely dependent on people’s behaviour said Tamil Nadu Education Minister Anbil Mahesh here on Monday.

Speaking to reporters, the minister said, “As there will be good influx of students in the government schools, we have to decide on number of students to be allowed per classroom even before reopening of the schools. Until reopening of schools, we will conduct classes through Kalvi TV and online classes through WhatsApp. But about the physical classes we are yet to decide upon.” 

While speaking about the private schools demanding 100 per cent fee, he said that the government will take a prompt action on such schools. The schools should abide by court’s direction of paying 75 per cent of the complete fee in two installments. 

The education department had submitted the guidelines for online classes till the schools reopen and the CM to make announcements soon.  About the Teachers Recruitment Board, he said that the government has not taken any decision and asked people to not believe in rumors before government comes up any announcements.
