MTC Employee Arrested For Running Bus Over Colleague In Basin Bridge Deport
As the employee reversed the bus to a distance, he unexpectedly ran over the driver.
Chennai: A Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) employee was arrested for the death of his colleague who was run over by the bus while he was reversing the vehicle in Basin Bridge depot. On Tuesday, the MTC employee run over another 59-year-old driver.
According to a report on The Hindu, the victim Albert, a resident of Madura Mettupalayam in Puzhal, was working as a driver in Basin Bridge depot. On Tuesday, Albert reported to the duty and was walking in the deport at 9 pm on Tuesday.
While he was nearing a bus, another MTC driver Dinesh Kumar, who was on night shift, finished filling the diesel of the bus and started to reverse the bus. As he reversed the bus to a distance, he unexpectedly ran over Albert.

Immediately, the colleagues who were nearby took Albert to the Government Stanley Hospital but doctors declared him dead.
Based on the complaint, the traffic investigation police of Elephant Gate registered a case. The driver Dinesh Kumar was arrested.

The police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
In November last year, the death of a 32-year-old biker who hit a pothole and was run over by a bus created a shock wave in the city. Soon after the incident, the Highways department started filling pothole with gravel and sand to avoid any further untoward incidents.
The incident was also caught on CCTV camera and the chilling visual went viral on social media.
