A police station in Raigad was covered in knee-deep water after heavy rainfall in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, IMD forecasts moderate to intense rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri.
Raigad's Rasayani police station faces severe waterlogging as heavy rainfall continues to lash parts of Maharashtra. A video released by the police shows the entire premises submerged in knee-deep water. Meanwhile, the IMD on Wednesday predicted moderate to intense rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri. On Tuesday, IMD issued a ‘Red’ alert for Palghar, and Raigad for July 19, and an 'Orange' alert had been issued for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri.

Raigad District Collector Yogesh Mhase has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the district on Wednesday because of heavy rains. Savitri River, Amba River and Patalganga River in Raigad district crossed the danger mark. The Kundalika River is also on the verge of crossing the danger mark, informed the Raigad District Administration. One NDRF team has been deployed in Palghar and Raigad each.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instructed the District Collectors to take precautionary measures immediately and deploy relief work and disaster management teams in view of the incessant rainfall in the city.
Meanwhile, IMD upgraded the rain alert for the Pune district to red while indicating that heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely to happen in the next 24 hours. As per TN, the red alert in Pune is in effect from 12:00 PM on July 19, 2023. As per the IMD, Pune could receive rainfall of up to 20 cm in the next 24 hours. In the past few days, the district has already witnessed heavy rains in the past few days. IMD has warned that the situation might worsen in the coming hours.
