Uttarakhand: Minister's Assurance After Sanitation Workers Demonstrate Their Demands

Safai Karamcharis demonstrated their demands in Haldwani Urban Development Minister Banshidhar Bhagat has assured the employees.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Swachh Kar Karmachari Sangh demonstrated their demands in Haldani. Employees also traveled towards the residence of Urban Development Minister Banshidhar Bhagat, during the demonstration. During which, hundreds of sanitation workers, including Ajay Rajour, Deputy Chairman of the Safai Karamcharis Commission, were present.

The top officials of the administration and police also stood firm to control the employees. The sanitation workers also raised slogans against the government. Ajay Rajour said that if his problems are not resolved in time, then he will also be forced to agitate because he is first the leader of his society before anything. 

What are the demands?

The Safai Karamcharis made demands to abolish the contract system and make them completely permanent, fix them like the previous government, ownership rights given to the Safai Karamcharis and benefits to the deceased dependents. 

At the same time, Urban Development Minister Banshidhar Bhagat said that these demands have to be resolved from the government level. He will discuss this situation at the government level and decisions will be made on how much relief will the sanitation workers get.

He said that after talking to Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami it was confirmed that, along with creating some posts for their betterment, making some employees of the contract system permanent and accommodating the deceased dependents would also be considered.
