UP Girl Tests HIV+ After Doctor 'Uses Same Syringe Used On Multiple Patients', Deputy CM Seeks Explanation

Kin of a girl child in Etah claimed that same syringe was used on several patients in UP's medical college post which she tested HIV positive. An explanation from the medical college has been sought.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Saturday said that an explanation from the principal of Etah's Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi Government Medical College was sought following the reports stating that a girl child tested HIV positive after a doctor used one syringe on multiple patients

Pathak said that strict action will be taken against the ones who are found guilty in the matter.

Dy CM in a tweet, said, "Taking immediate cognisance of the incident related to the doctor injecting several patients with the same syringe in the medical college, Etah, and getting the test report of a child as HIV positive, an explanation has been sought from the principal of the medical college." In another tweet of the same thread, he wrote, "If any doctor is found guilty, strict action will be taken against him."

Parents of the child on Saturday met with the District Magistrate Ankit Kumar Agarwal and complained that the same syringe has been used for several children. Her relatives claimed that she was admitted to a hospital on February 20. However, when she tested HIV positive then she was forced out of the hospital by the health workers late at night, reported news agency PTI.

DM said that after he received the complaint, an investigation was launched and handed over to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

As per PTI, Umesh Kumar Tripathi, the CMO of Etah, said that he got to know about the incident and that the District Magistrate had ordered an investigation. When the investigation gets over, a report will be submitted to the district magistrate.
