Noida: Man Strangles 22-Year-Old Woman To Death During Argument, Later Attempts Suicide

The 42-year-old man has been booked for the murder of her 22-year-old girlfriend. He is receiving treatment at a hospital after he attempted suicide after murdering the woman.

A 22-year-old woman on Wednesday was allegedly strangled to death by her 42-year-old lover, who later tried to take his own life by slitting his throat with a blade. The man has been booked for murder and taken into custody by the police, a senior police official told news agency PTI.The accused is currently in a hospital receiving medical treatment.

Hirdesh Katheriya, Additional DCP, Central Noida stated that the Sector 63 Police Station was informed about the incident by some local residents of Chhijarsi village at around 10 pm on Wednesday (March 28).

DCP Katheriya further stated that when the police team reached the murder spot, both of them were found to be injured. After that, they were rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared the woman brought dead. The man was admitted for treatment as he had suffered injuries on his throat during the suicide attempt, PTI reported.

Why was Nisha murdered?

The woman, identified as Nisha, was a native of Ballia district while her partner, Dhananjay Kumar, lived in Noida's Chhijarsi village. The couple had been involved in a love relationship for about a year, the senior police official stated.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when Nisha came to meet Dhananjay at his residence. The couple got into an argument over some issue after which the man strangled her to death, DCP stated.

"Nisha told her parents she was going to visit a friend. When she didn't return home till late evening, her parents started looking for her and called her, but she didn't pick up," TOI quoted additional DCP (central Noida) Hirdesh Katheriya as saying.

The police are still unaware of the reason for the row that led to the murder of the woman.

Katheriya stated that the police have lodged an FIR under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and the accused would be produced in local court once he is discharged from the hospital.
