Muslim Cleric Detained For Gyanvapi Protest, Seeks CM Dhami's Arrest Over Haldwani, Targets PM Modi

Targeting the Centre, Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Tauqeer Raza urged for a cessation of bulldozer operations, calling for intervention from the Supreme Court.

New Delhi: Tensions escalated in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Friday, as thousands of supporters of Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Tauqeer Raza Khan took to streets after his detention by police. Khan was taken into custody after issuing a 'jail bharo' call in response to developments surrounding the Gyanvapi case.

Addressing a press conference, Tauqeer Raza launched a blistering attack on the BJP-led government at the Centre, particularly targeting Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the Haldwani violence over the demolition drive.

Accusing CM Dhami for the turmoil in Haldwani, Raza demanded his immediate arrest. He also invoked the Godhra incident, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also accused organisations like VHP and Bajrang Dal of exploiting their proximity to the government and lamented the lack of control over them.

Raza further claimed that the youth were seething with anger, ready to confront the government if necessary. He also demanded the release of Mumbai-based Islamic preacher Mufti Salman Azhari, who was taken into custody for allegedly delivering “hate speech”.

Targeting the Centre, Raza urged for a cessation of bulldozer operations, calling for intervention from the Supreme Court.

The Muslim cleric also alleged a conspiracy by Hindu outfits to oppress Muslims, asserting the deep-rooted presence of Muslims in India. He questioned the legality of worship permissions at Gyanvapi, advocating for repercussions against the presiding judge.

As an act of protest, Raza also declared the launch of "jail bharo" movements across districts, vowing to confront any challenge that comes up. He expressed gratitude for the restraint shown by their followers, asserting their readiness to face any consequences.

Meanwhile, speaking on the situation, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Bareilly Zone, PC Meeni, said that measures have been taken to control the volatile situation.

As per reports, at least one person was injured as stones were pelted in Shamat Ganj area in Bareilly.
