BHU Resumes OPD Services; Social Distancing Norms Go For Toss

After several weeks, the OPD service has been started in BHU. This is great news for patients. However, the throng of patients at the hospital led to the flouting of social distancing rules.

Varanasi: After the second wave of the coronavirus, the OPD service has started in Varanasi's BHU today, but there were no arrangements to ensure social distancing. The chairs near the slip counter were also crowded. After 3rd April, the OPD service in Varanasi BHU started today. With a cap of fifty patients per doctor, the OT service has also been started. This has brought great relief to the patients.

When the coronavirus wave was at its peak, tele-facility was being used. However, with the opening of the OPD, social distancing rules were disregarded at the BHU. Despite several appeals, people were careless about the norms.

The opening of the OPD service has brought relief to patients and attendants. There is a need to embrace the coronavirus guidelines so that treatments can happen in a safe environment.

OPD Service Requirements

In view of the global pandemic, the OPD of Sir Sunderlal Hospital, which has been closed for the past few weeks, opens today

- The number of OPD registrations for the General Specialty and Super Specialty departments will be 50 each. 

- For specialty clinics of general specialty departments, only 25 patients can be registered at a time. These registrations can be done till 11 am or till the registration slots are filled.

OPD patients and their families must follow COVID-19-appropriate behaviour.

Indoor patients will be admitted after furnishing a negative RTPCR report of the sample collected in the last 72 hours.

- Elective operation theaters will function only up to 50 percent capacity while emergency operation theaters will remain operational.

Telemedicine OPD will continue to run as per the existing arrangement.

The post-COVID-19 mucormycosis ward will be shifted to the 5th and 2nd floors of the Shatabdi Super Specialty Block.
