Rajasthan Congress Crisis: Mallikarjun Kharge Meets Gehlot, Underlines Need For 'Discipline' In Party

Rajasthan Political Crisis: After the meeting, Kharge said that there should be discipline in the party and the party has to be kept united.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing political crisis, Congress observer Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday met Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, as reported by news agency ANI. The matter has worsened after the MLAs of the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot faction boycotted the legislature party meeting on Sunday. After the meeting, Kharge said that there should be discipline in the party and the party has to be kept united.

"We have informed the Congress president about what happened yesterday. Everybody has to abide by whatever decision is taken eventually. We have to keep the party united. There should be discipline in the party," he said.

Before the meeting of the legislature party on behalf of the pro-Gehlot MLAs, their resignations were submitted to the Speaker of the Assembly Dr. CP Joshi on Sunday night.

Since then, senior party leaders are trying to resolve this deadlock that has arisen in the state. Congress observers Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken have left for Delhi from Jaipur.

"It is an act of indiscipline. When an official meeting has been called, and if a parallel unofficial meeting is conducted, it is an act of indiscipline. We will see what action to be taken," Maken said earlier today.

Meanwhile, Congress high command asked MP Congress chief Kamal Nath to immediately arrive in Delhi and he is further likely to mediate in Rajasthan Congress crisis, said sources as quoted by ANI.

While senior Congress leaders are trying to resolve the deadlock that has arisen again in the state, the pro-Gehlot MLAs have united. Gehlot's loyalists claimed that over 90 MLAs had gone to Joshi's residence. They have submitted their resignations to Joshi. However, this number of MLAs could not be confirmed.
