Rajasthan: After Show Of 'Unity' With Gehlot At Late-Night Meet, Pilot Rakes Up 'Graft' Issue Again

The Congress leader has given a 15-day ultimatum to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to act against the alleged corruption cases during the previous Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government in the state.

Two days after the Congress party put up a united front by announcing Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot will be joining forces to combat the BJP in the upcoming elections in the state, after a meeting with the two leaders in Delhi, Pilot on Wednesday reiterated his demand for an investigation into the alleged corruption cases during the previous Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government in the state.

The Congress leader, who has given a 15-day ultimatum to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in this regard said that the issue of corruption was discussed during the meeting with the party leadership on Monday.

"Issues of corruption raised by me were discussed (before party leadership) in Delhi the day before yesterday. State govt has to act against corruption," Pilot, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

"The corruption and loot that took place during the tenure of the previous Vasundhara government should be effectively investigated, while the youth who were wronged should also get justice. Radical changes should be brought in RPSC also. I am waiting for the state government to take action on all these," Pilot further said.

Pilot also pointed out that he has done nothing wrong by putting the grievances of the youth in front of top Congress leaders in Delhi.

"Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also reiterated many times that our party is against corruption and works on the policy of zero tolerance, as well as our party will not tolerate any atrocities against the youth So there is nothing wrong in what I said," he said, as reported by ANI.

On Monday, May 29, the Congress party had held a meeting with Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot for close to 4 hours and said that both the leaders will be joining forces to fight the state election unitedly.

“We have decided to fight the elections unitedly. Definitely, we will win the elections in Rajasthan. Both Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have unanimously agreed with the proposal," said Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, while speaking to the media.

Influential party members such as Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) has been facing turmoil since July last year when Pilot revolted to demand a leadership change for the state.

Pilot was subsequently ousted from his positions as Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress president by the party. Since then there is an underlying tension brewing between the two leaders.
