The Nuh violence which even spread to nearby Gurugram claimed six lives, including two home guards, a cleric, and four others.

New Delhi: Bajrang Dal member Bittu Bajrangi was arrested on Tuesday from his Faridabad residence in connection with the communal violence that broke out in Nuh during a religious yatra on July 31.

The Nuh violence which even spread to nearby Gurugram claimed six lives, including two home guards, a cleric, and four others.

Bajrangi alias Rajkumar was questioned in connection with a fresh FIR registered against him and 15-20 others at Nuh's Sadar police station based on a complaint filed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Usha Kundu, police said, reported news agency PTI.

A video of the arrest has gone viral on social media in which cops can be seen chasing the Bajrang Dal member.

He is accused of giving provocative statements on social media which eventually led to the clashes in Haryana. A video of his speech was widely circulated on social media before the Yatra in Nuh.

In the video, he was heard saying, "Yeh bolenge ki bataya nahi hai hum sasural aaye aur meeting nahi huve...(they will say we didn't inform you about our coming)... keep the flower garlands ready, brother-in-law is coming. There are 150 vehicles in total."

A spokesperson of Nuh Police said that he was arrested after the questioning and will be produced in a city court on Wednesday.

The FIR against Bajrangi and the others has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 148 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 332 (causing hurt), 353, 186 (obstructing a public servant from discharging duty), 395, 397 (armed robbery), and 506 (criminal intimidation) and provisions of the Arms Act, police said.

Earlier, Nuh SP Narendra Singh Bijarnia had said that a case was registered against Goraksha Bajrang Force President Bittu Bajrangi in Faridabad in connection with the clashes.

Bajrangi alias Raj Kumar, 45, is a fruit and vegetables trader at the Gazipur market and Dabua market in Faridabad, PTI reported citing sources, adding he also has been running his cow vigilante group for the last three years.

In the last one month alone, he has been booked in three cases of inciting religious sentiments, PTI reported.
