Kerala: SDPI Member Booked For Pinning Badges 'I'm Babri' On School Students

Till now, CPI (M), which is ruling the Kattangal panchayat in an alliance with SDPI, has not commented about the incident. 

Chennai: A member of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) was booked for forcefully pinning badges that read "I am Babri" on the uniforms of school students in Kattangal of Pathanamthitta district. In the videos that went viral, a man was seen pinning the badges for students of St George High School in Kattangal on December 6, on this day the Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992. 

According to a report on The News Minute, the police have identified the person as SDPI worker Muneer Nazer and have named him in the FIR. However, the other persons involved in the incident will be known only after a thorough investigation.

The Kattangal police booked a complaint under sections including wrongful restraint and promoting enmity between different groups of the Indian Penal Code based on the complaint by BJP's Ranni Madalam President Suresh K Pillai. 

BJP National Executive Member PK Krishnadas also sent a complaint to National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in connection with the incident.

Till now, CPI (M), which is ruling the Kattangal panchayat in an alliance with SDPI, has not commented about the incident. 

Meanwhile, security was beefed up in Uttar Pradesh to avoid any untoward events on the anniversary of Babri Masjid Demolition day. The state called PAC and central paramilitary forces to keep vigil of the security. Additional security arrangements were made in Varanasi, Mathura and Ayodhya.
