Tamil Nadu: Woman Kills Her Newborn Baby Girl & Dumps Into Toilet Flush Tank In Govt Hospital
The woman attempted to give birth to the child without informing the family and reached the hospital alone only by complaining of a mild stomach ache.
Chennai: A 23-year-old woman from Thanjavur killed her newborn baby girl and dumped the baby into a flush tank of the toilet at Thanjavur Medical College since she became pregnant after having an extra-marital affair. Initially, the body of the newborn baby was recovered by sanitation staff on December 4 while they were cleaning the toilets.
According to a report on Times of India, the baby was first recovered on December 4 after the sanitation staff tried to flush the toilets but the flush reportedly did not work properly. Hence they opened the tank and to their shock they found the baby submerged in the tank with the umbilical cord.

Following this, the hospital officials informed the police who registered a case and started the investigation. The police then recovered the CCTV footage of the hospital and noticed that a woman was walking near the toilet of the Tamil Nadu Accident and Emergency Care Initiative ward on December 3.
Based on the visuals, the police started looking out for the woman in Thanjavur, Kalyanapuram, Thirupoonthiruthi and other neighbouring areas, said the report.
On the basis of preliminary investigation and tipoff of the neighbours, the police identified the woman as Priyadharshini of Alakudi district. Later, they arrested the woman and during the investigation, it was revealed that the woman became pregnant due to an extra-marital affair. The woman then attempted to give birth to the child without informing the family and reached the hospital alone only by complaining of a mild stomach ache.
