Kashi Vishwanath Temple Security Gets Boost Ahead Of Sawan Festivities

Kashi Vishwanath Temple: The Hindu holy month of Sawan sees a large number of devotees visit Varanasi to have Baba Vishwanath's 'darshan'. In view of this, security has been strengthened in the area.

Keeping in mind the crowd of devotees thronging the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi in the Hindu month of Sawan or Shravan, the local administration and police have decided to beef up the security in the city.

On Tuesday, officials of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple administration, the Divisional Commissioner, and the Police Commissioner decided on the necessary steps to be taken for the comfort and safety of visitors at the temple. A control room will be set up from where the entire temple premises will be monitored via CCTV cameras.

Shravan will be observed from July 22 to August 19. Thousands of devotees will visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple, apart from those who undertake the kanwar yatra. In view of the expected rush, the temple administration has decided to set up lost & found centres and arrange for live darshan to help visitors. Free e-rickshaws for the physically challenged and elderly people will be made available. Police personnel and volunteers have been instructed to be on their toes to help devotees and treat every visitor with utmost politeness.

The stretch from Maidagin to Godowlia (around 1.6 km) will be a no-vehicle zone for the entire Shravan month.

Devotees visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Temple will also have access to emergency medical facilities. The health department has been instructed to ensure the same. The Divisional Commissioner has also instructed officials to set up public address systems and ensure strong security arrangements on the streets as well.

Guidelines have also been issued for visitors regarding the provisions of drinking water, toilets, and easy exit and entry arrangements.

The people of Kashi have been demanding for the last few months that they be allowed to enter the premises through a fixed entrance at the Kashi Vishwanath temple so that they can easily get 'darshan' of 'Baba Vishwanath'. This was also discussed in the meeting on Tuesday. Now, people of Kashi will be able to enter the temple via a new entrance along Nandufaria Road from 4 AM to 5 AM and 4 PM to 5 PM.
