Haryana Announces 10% Quota For Agniveers In Government Jobs

A statement said that the government will provide 10% horizontal reservation to Agniveers in Haryana in direct recruitment to the posts of Constable, Mining Guard, Forest Guard and Jail Warden.

Haryana government has announced 10 percent quota for Agniveers in the posts of constable, mining guard, forest guard, jail warden and special police officer.

During a press conference in Chandigarh, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that in direct recruitment to posts of constable, mining guard, forest guard, jail warden and special police officer made by the state government, there will be a 10 per cent horizontal reservation for Agniveers.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented the Agnipath scheme on June 14, 2022. Under this scheme, Agniveer is deployed in the Indian Army for 4 years. Our government will provide 10% horizontal reservation to Agniveers in Haryana in direct recruitment to the posts of Constable, Mining Guard, Forest Guard, Jail Warden and SPO recruited by the state government,” Nayab Singh Saini said in a press conference.

CM Saini also said that in the recruitment for civil posts in Group B and Group C, the government has decided to grant Agniveers a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit.

A 5% horizontal reservation for Agniveers in direct recruitment to civil posts in Group C and a 1% horizontal reservation in Group B will also be provided.

"Second, a concession of three years in maximum age criteria for government jobs will be given to Agniveers in Group B and Group C," he added.

While Group B refers to gazetted posts in the state government, Group C comprises non-gazetted posts such as clerks.

"If any industrial unit employs an Agniveer at a salary of more than Rs 30,000 per month, then our government will give that unit an annual subsidy of Rs 60,000," Saini said.

He also announced that if an Agniveer takes a loan of up to Rs 5 lakh to start a business, no interest will be charged on it.

"Agniveers seeking employment in government departments, boards or corporations will be given priority in the matrix score," Saini added.

The Agnipath scheme, introduced by the BJP government at the Centre in June 2022 for short-term induction of personnel in the armed forces, has faced severe criticism from several quarters, including opposition parties.
