NHAI Constructs 75 Km NH In 105 Hours, Enters Guinness World Record

With the construction of the highway, NHAI has beaten the record of the Public Works Authority in Qatar recorded on February 27, 2019.

Chennai: The National Highway Authority of India's construction of a highway stretch of 75 kilometers between Amravati and Akola in Maharashtra within 105 hours and 33 minutes has entered the Guinness World Record. The NHAI completed the project with the help of 800 of its employees and 720 workers of another private company on Tuesday. 

The work to construct the road started on June 3 at 7 Am and got successfully completed by 5 Pm on June 7. The NH-53 Highway passes through mineral-rich regions of India and connects major cities of Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur, Dhule and Surat. 

In a tweet on Wednesday, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister said, "Proud Moment For The Entire Nation! Feel very happy to congratulate our exceptional Team @NHAI_Official, Consultants & Concessionaire, Rajpath Infracon Pvt Ltd & Jagdish Kadam, on achieving the Guinness World Record (@GWR) of laying 75 Km continuous Bituminous Concrete Road in a single lane on NH-53 section between Amravati and Akola."

"I would specially thank our Engineers & Workers who toiled day & night to achieve this extraordinary feat. #PragatiKaHighway #GatiShakti @narendramodi," he said. 

The Minister also said that the vision of new India is being built with perseverance and sweat. He also reiterated that the whole nation is proud of the feat.

With the construction of the highway, NHAI has beat the record of Public Works Authority in Qatar recorded on February 27, 2019. The stretch constructed in Qatar was part of Al-Khor Expressway and the construction was completed in 10 days.
