Bihar Political Crisis: Lalu Yadav's Daughter Attacks Nitish Over 'Dynastic Politics' Remarks, CM Not To Join Nyay Yatra — Top Points

Without naming Nitish, Rohini said that he who claims to be a socialist, keeps changing his ideology like air.

New Delhi: The differences between the Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) appear to be deepening in Bihar. After Nitish Kumar's 'dynastic politics' attack, Rohini Acharya, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter targetted the Chief Minister in a now-deleted post.

Without naming Nitish, Rohini said that he who claims to be a socialist, keeps changing his ideology like wind.

Her remarks came after Nitish Kumar, while addressing a rally on the birth centenary of former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur on Wednesday, criticized dynastic politics and said that he followed the path shown by the late socialist leader by not promoting his family in politics.

Thakur was conferred with the Bharat Ratna posthumously earlier this week.

In her post on X, Acharya targetted Kumar, saying people often don't see their own shortcomings yet continue to throw mud at others. "People often cannot see their own shortcomings but continue to throw mud at others with impudence," she wrote.

In another tweet, Acharya said, "He who claims to be a socialist, keeps changing his ideology like air."

She also added, "What outrage will be there when somebody who is undeserving is given prominence? Who can question the method when there is deceit in one's own intentions?"

In another blow to the I.N.D.I.A. Alliance, the Bihar Chief Minister is also unlikely to join Rahul Gandhi on his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Nitish Kumar will not participate in the Congress's mass outreach programme on January 30 as scheduled earlier, said sources.

Here Are The Latest Updates From Bihar:

  • Kumar's reluctance to put up a "united face" ahead of the Lok Sabha elections comes even as the I.N.D.I.A bloc reels under the 'defections' of Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and her Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann, who said they will fight the Lok Sabha 2024 elections alone in their respective states.
  • The Bihar BJP accused Lalu Pasad's Singapore-based daughter Rohini Acharya of insulting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and demanded a public apology from her.

  • Sharing a screenshot of the purported deleted posts, Bihar BJP leader Nikhil Anand said, "These are like an arrow released from the bow.” The BJP leader said if Acharya regrets having used words like ‘badtameez’ (ill-mannered) against the chief minister in the post, she should publicly express regret and apologise.

  • However, Senior JD(U) leader K C Tyagi rejected a suggestion that the Bihar Chief Minister targeted ally RJD by speaking out against "dynasty politics" the day before.

  • "Nitish Kumar was addressing a programme organised on the birth anniversary of Karpoori Thakur, whom he has idolised. Like all great socialists, Thakur abhorred dynastic succession in politics. This was the simple fact Nitish Kumar wanted to underscore. Nothing more should be read into it," asserted Tyagi.
