Bihar Police Lathi Charge, Lob Tear Gas Shells At BJP Workers Protesting Teachers' Postings

BJP workers took out a march against the Bihar government over the issue of posting of teachers in the state. Police personnel lathi charged at the protestors and fired tear gas shells at them.

Bihar BJP workers held a protest march to the Vidhan Sabha on Thursday against the Bihar government over the issue of the posting of teachers in the state. Soon after the march began, Bihar Police personnel resorted to lathi charges and fired multiple rounds of tear gas shells at them. Water cannons were also used to disperse the mob. Prior to the march, two Bihar BJP MLAs were marshalled out of the Bihar Assembly after they allegedly raised the issue of the posting of teachers in the state.

ANI shared a visual from the site that showed the MLAs being dragged out by police personnel.

What Is The Teachers' Posting Issue

Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government announced on June 27 regarding the recruitment of school teachers. As per the announcement, the state government was removing the mandatory domicile policy requirement from the recruitment process of school teachers. This drew flak from the BJP with senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi demanding its immediate withdrawal. He had said that the decision is an insult to the state's talented youths as they are being deprived of their well-deserved jobs.

In another incident, four BJP MLAs were marshalled out of the Delhi Assembly on March 29 following the arguments with Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on the issues to be taken up for discussion in the House. AAP MLAs in Delhi Assembly raised the issue of men harassing female students at DU's Indraprastha College for Women during a fest and blamed the Lieutenant Governor for the 'poor law and order situation' in the national capital.

BJP members wanted to have a discussion on another issue which led to an argument with the Speaker after which four BJP MLAs were marshalled out, reported news agency PTI.

AAP MLA Bhavna Gaur raised the matter of security, law, and order for women in the national capital with regard to the recent incident at DU's Indraprastha College for Women where some men scaled the walls of the college and harassed female students, reported PTI.
