Noah Lyles becomes the first American sprinter to win an Olympic gold medal in the prestigious men’s 100m race since the 2004 Athens Olympics. The last American to achieve this feat was Justin Gatlin.

Lyles previously won bronze in the 200-metre at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and is now aiming for more success in the 200-metre and 4×100-metre relay events in Paris. His victory in the 100-metre sprint adds to his achievements from the 2023 World Athletics Championships, where he won gold in the 100-metre, 200-metre, and 4×100-metre relay.

How Noah Lyles Compaers With Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt, celebrated for his eight Olympic gold medals and world records in the 100m and 200m, remains unbeaten with a 9.63-second Olympic 100m record and a 9.58-second world record. Noah Lyles, who won the 100m in 9.79 seconds at the Paris Olympics, aims to match Bolt's feat by winning both the 100m and 200m. Lyles will have another opportunity to challenge Bolt's 200m world record of 19.19 seconds in the upcoming race event.
