NCA Will Monitor Targeted Players In IPL 2023 Ahead Of ODI World Cup, Yo-Yo Test To Return: BCCI

BCCI on Sunday held a review meeting of Team India in Mumbai in the backdrop of national team's poor performance in T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday held a review meeting of Team India in Mumbai. Keeping in view the preparations for the Men's FTP and ODI World Cup 2023, NCA will work in tandem with IPL franchises to monitor targeted Indian players participating in IPL 2023. It is possible that some players might be asked to play fewer matches. In another key decision, the apex board decided that the emerging players have to play enough domestic seasons to be eligible for selection in the national team. This means that if a player performs well in IPL, then he will have to play a lot of matches in domestic cricket as well.

The meeting was attended by BCCI President Mr Roger Binny, Honorary Secretary Jay Shah, Indian Captain Mr Rohit Sharma, Team India Head Coach Mr Rahul Dravid, Head of Cricket (NCA) VVS Laxman and Chairman of Senior Men Selection Committee Chetan Sharma, BCCI said in a statement.

"The emerging players will have to play a substantial domestic season to be eligible for selection to the national team. The Yo-Yo Test and Dexa will now be part of selection criteria and implemented in the customized roadmaps of the central pool of players. Keeping in mind the Men’s FTP and preparations for ICC CWC 2023, the NCA will work in tandem with the IPL to monitor the targeted Indian players participating in the IPL 2023," said a BCCI statement.
