Delhi: No Re-Fueling For Vehicles Older Than 15 Years From April 1, Minister Sirsa Announces New Measures
Delhi imposes fuel ban on vehicles over 15 years old from April 1st. Commercial buildings must install anti-smog guns. 90% of CNG buses are to be phased out by December 2025.
The Delhi government will prohibit fuel stations across the city from providing petrol to vehicles older than 15 years starting April 1, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced on Saturday. Following a meeting with officials to discuss measures to tackle air pollution in the national capital, Sirsa said the government is implementing strict policies to curb vehicular emissions.
"We are installing gadgets at petrol pumps which will identify vehicles older than 15 years, and no fuel will be provided to them," Sirsa said after the meeting, as per news agency PTI. He also stated that the Delhi government would notify the Union Ministry of Petroleum regarding this decision.

The meeting focused on key policy decisions, including restrictions on older vehicles, mandatory anti-smog measures, and the transition to electric public transport. Sirsa further announced that all high-rise buildings, hotels, and commercial complexes in Delhi must install anti-smog guns to combat pollution levels.
Additionally, the minister revealed that nearly 90 per cent of Delhi’s public CNG buses will be phased out by December 2025 and replaced with electric buses as part of the government’s move towards cleaner and more sustainable public transport.
Reacting to the announcement, Delhi Petrol Dealers Association President Nischal Singhania welcomed the move, stating, “Vehicles older than 15 years are already banned by the Supreme Court; they can’t ply in Delhi. We already have systems in place where we capture the number plates of vehicles, and the system was used only to give alerts to customers who don’t have a PoC setup. I think the same system can be used to capture the number of vehicles which are 15 years old. We welcome this move.”

Amit Shah's High-Level Review Meeting On Delhi Law And Order Situation
The announcement comes after Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting on Friday to review law and order in the national capital. The meeting was attended by newly-elected Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Home Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Police Commissioner, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, Shah directed the Delhi Police to take stringent action against networks that assist illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in entering India, stressing that it is a matter of national security. He called for strict measures against police stations and sub-divisions with consistently poor performance and urged officers to dismantle interstate gangs operating in the city.
"Strict action should be taken against the entire network that helps Bangladeshi and Rohingya intruders enter the country, get their documents made and facilitate their stay here. The issue of illegal intruders is also related to national security and it should be dealt with strictly. They should be identified and deported," Shah said.
He also directed DCP-level officers to conduct public hearings to resolve citizen grievances and instructed the Delhi Police Commissioner and Chief Secretary to identify areas affected by daily traffic congestion and formulate immediate solutions.
