Latham takes a blinder at short leg to dismiss Du Plessis

New Delhi: Tom Latham has an alternative career if he gets tired of opening the batting -- astrology. No, this is not a before time April fool joke. What Latham did on Day 2 of the third New Zealand-South Africa Test at Hamilton would make even the best of astrologers proud.  Standing at forward-short leg, the left handed batsmen knew for sure where Du Plessis is going to hit the next shot. Then what did Latham do next? He stood up from his crouching position, moved towards his right with an outstretched right hand and completed the catch to shell shock the South African captain. In the 62nd over of the South African innings, left-arm spinner Santner bowled an innocuous delivery which Du Plessis looked to paddle it fine. Instead, he mistimed his shot. Latham at short leg had started to move towards his right even before Du Plessis had completed the shot, thereby making it easy to gobble up the catch.
