WATCH: Ravindra Jadeja Scores 10 Off Last Two Balls To Secure Thrilling Win For CSK In IPL 2023 Final
In a tensed finish to the match, Ravindra Jadeja kept his cool to help CSK secure their fifth IPL title.
It was a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The summit clash of one of the most sough after leagues in the world was originally supposed to be played on Sunday but when it ended, it was way past 1 o clock on Tuesday morning but still there were not too many empty seats of the stadium. The spectators had their money's worth after they witnessed a last-ball finish of an IPL final, one that will be talked about for many years to come.
After the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and opted to field first on the reserve day of the final on Monday after rain had made no play possible on Sunday (May 28), the Gujarat Titans posted the highest-total ever made in a final, ending on 214/4 with the help of Sai Sudharsan's 96 off 47 and Wriddhiman Saha's 54 off 39.
In response, CSK were handed a revised target of 171 in 15 overs after the rain returned just a few deliveries into their innings. The Men in Yellow with the help of contributions from Player of the Match Devon Conway (47 off 25), Shivam Dube (32 off 21), Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 13) and Ambati Rayudu (19 off 8) were alive in the game but eventually it all came down to 10 needed off 2 deliveries with Ravindra Jadeja on strike.
There were already a few happy faces in the GT camp who had started sensing a win but Jadeja had other ideas as he first smashed a six straight down to the ground to make it 1 needed off 4 balls before helping the ball past the fine leg fielder for a boundary to help Chennai register a dramatic victory and one that helped them level Mumbai Indians as the franchise with the most number of titles as they both now have five titles.
