Shubman Gill Punished With Heavy Fine After GT vs CSK IPL 2024 Match

Shubman Gill was fined INR 24 lakhs due to his team's second offence of IPL 2024 season under IPL's Code of Conduct pertaining to the minimum over rate offence.

Shubman Gill fined after GT vs CSK IPL match: Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill has been fined for his team's slow-over rate during Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL 2024 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday (May 10).

Gill was fined INR 24 lakhs due to his team's second offence of IPL 2024 season under IPL's Code of Conduct pertaining to the minimum over rate offence.

Not only was Gill reprimanded, but also all players in the playing 11, including the impact player, were individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill (104 runs off 55 balls) was honored as the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance in GT vs CSK IPL 2024 match.

Gill, along with his batting partner Sai Sudarshan (103 runs off 51 balls), forged a remarkable 200-run partnership, with both players achieving centuries. Their exceptional batting display propelled GT to a formidable total of 231/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Chennai Super Kings could only manage 196/8 despite impressive fifties from Daryl Mitchell, who scored 63 runs off 34 balls, and Moeen Ali, contributing 56 runs off 36 balls.

Despite the setback, Chennai Super Kings maintain their position at the 4th spot in the points table with 12 points, having secured 6 wins and endured 6 losses. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans, positioned at the bottom in the 8th position with 10 points, are on the verge of being knocked out from the IPL 2024 playoffs race, with another defeat potentially sealing their fate.

Gill's century in GT vs CSK IPL 2024 match marked the fourth of his career and also served as the landmark 100th century in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.

"When you've got 100k people supporting you, becomes easier. Just the freeness of it," GT captain said at the post-match party.
