RCB Hit Back At Murali Kartik's 'Trash' Remark On Yash Dayal
IPL2024: Murali Kartik's statement on Yash Dayal has raised eyebrows and his franchise RCB have also responded to it now.
Former India spinner Murali Karthik is one of the commentators in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Karthik has been in the realm of broadcasting for quite some time now and could also be seen hosting several post match presentations for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The broadcaster though has been subject to criticism following a controversial statement which he made on air.
While sharing his views on Yash Dayal, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer, he framed a sentence in a manner which several users on social media found objectionable. Notably, Karthik was referring to the fact that Dayal was not retained or bought back by Gujarat Titans (GT) for whom he played last year and conceded five sixes in an over to Kolkata Knight Riders' Rinku Singh while delivering the final over, he said: "Someone’s trash is someone’s treasure."
Despite Dayal's nightmarish outing on the field, Dayal, who had registered himself at the auction for a base price of Rs 20 lakh, was included by RCB for Rs 5 Crore. In addition, the bowler has been impressive this season, bowling inside the powerplay for RCB. In 2 innings, he has scalped 2 wickets, conceding 51 runs at an average of 25.5 and an economy of 7.28. In RCB's win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday (March 25), Dayal was among the pick of the bowlers, bowling his four overs for only 23 runs while getting the wicket of Sam Curran.
RCB Respond To Murali Karthik's Statement For Yash Dayal
Meanwhile, Dayal's franchise has responded to Kartik's statement with a post. Without naming the commentator, the Faf du Plessis-led side shared a picture of Dayal on its official handle and simply captioned the post: "He’s treasure. Period. ❤🔥."
