'Rajasthan Royals Played Really Well': CSK Coach Lauds The Royals After A Win Over CSK

RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler started well as they made 62 runs in the powerplay. CSK bowlers never found their rhythm and as a result  Rajasthan still managed to get a huge total on board.

Rajasthan Royals defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in match number 37 of the 2023 edition of the IPL on Thursday. Post CSK’s defeat, head coach Stephen Fleming asked his bowlers to prepare well especially for away games. Sanju Samson’s led team scored a huge total of 202 which was the first 200-plus total at Jaipur’s  Sawai Man Singh Stadium. In the power play, CSK bowlers were spotted clueless in front of the RR batters.

RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler started well as they made 62 runs in the powerplay. CSK bowlers never found their rhythm and as a result  Rajasthan still managed to get a huge total on board.

“It was a good game and I felt Rajasthan Royals played really well. This pitch was a lot different to the last one and it played well. It was starting to get slower towards the end, but Rajasthan Royals played a great home game. They came out of the blocks really well. Jaiswal played a great innings to create some momentum and I thought we came back nicely into the game. We were just a bit unlucky that our last three-four overs just with a few nicks here and there got 16-20 runs more than what we thought — 185 was perhaps fitting,” Fleming said.

Rajasthan bowlers’ also bowled well as they kept the opening duo of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad quiet in the powerplay overs.

“We came up against a team that took the pace off the ball, so we couldn’t get any momentum in the first six overs. Conway is in outstanding form as well but he couldn’t get underway, the rhythm of the innings was slow. And then when we tried to catch the game up we made mistakes. This is just pressure, it’s just good bowling. We did well with (Shivam) Dube to create a little bit of forward momentum and gave ourselves a small smite but it was just always a few overs too far,” Fleming said.

CSK batters Shivam Dube (52 off 33), and Moeen Ali (23 off 12) however tried to keep their team in the game but then they added too much pressure on themselves with 37 needed to win from 7 balls. For the Royals, leg spinner Adam Tampa scalped 3 for 22.
