CSK vs KKR, IPL 2024: Former India teammates MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir shared a special moment on the field after CSK defeated KKR by 7 wickets in 22nd match of the IPL 2024 on April 8 (Monday).

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets in the 22nd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. An IPL fixture featuring CSK and MS Dhoni never fails to delight cricket fans, particularly in India. However, what truly warmed the hearts of fans during the CSK vs KKR match was a touching moment shared between MS Dhoni and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir.

After Ruturaj Gaikwad-CSK defeated Shreyas Iyer’s KKR, MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir, former India teammates, engaged in a heartwarming hug during the customary post-match handshakes between players of both teams. The reunion held special significance as it was at this very venue where Gambhir, leading KKR, defeated Dhoni's CSK in the IPL 2012 final to secure their first-ever IPL title.

CSK End KKR's Winning Streak In IPL 2024

After winning the toss, CSK chose to bowl first and successfully limited KKR to a sub-par total of 137-9. Both Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande claimed three wickets each, with captain Shreyas Iyer top-scoring for KKR with a 32-ball 34.

In response, CSK faced an early setback with the dismissal of the Kiwi batter Rachin Ravindra as he got out for just 15 runs. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad played a captain's innings, anchoring one end steadily. He remained unbeaten on 67 and sealed the victory for CSK with 14 balls to spare. Notably, this was KKR' first defeat in the IPL 2024 season as they came into this contest as an undefeated team, having won three of their three matches in the tournament.

With this win, CSK now have 6 points in the IPL 2024 points table, positioning them fourth on the with a net run rate of +0.666. KKR, on the other hand, also have six points and currently hold the second spot, boasting the best net run rate in the tournament at +1.528.
