IPL 2025: Reiging T20 world champions India are all-set to embark their T20I preparations with the tour of Bangladesh in August this year. With the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, India eye few replacements to fill in the shoes of the two legends.
As per the reports, KL Rahul's name has come amongst the front-runners for the T20I set-up, as the T20 World Cup 2026 is now less than a year away.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been left impressed by KL Rahul's IPL 2025 form, and the right-handed batter recently scored a scintillating ton during DC vs GT match in Delhi, as he paced his innings as per the demand of the situation.
Why Was KL Rahul Dropped From T20I's?
KL Rahul did not have a memorable run with the bat in the format for almost two years. Since the turn of the decade, KL Rahul suffered a slump in form in T20I's, and was hence, becoming an easy prey for opposition bowlers in the powerplay.
Even during the T20 World Cup 2022, KL Rahul scored merely 128 runs in 6 innings, as India crashed out in the semis at the hands of eventual winners England.
Between 2021-2025, KL Rahul has been a part of three different IPL franchises, thereby reflecting that the wicket-keeper batsman has not been eyed a long-term plan by the IPL sides.
