KL Rahul Open To RCB Return Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction, Says Captaincy Not A Priority | WATCH

KL Rahul Open To RCB Return: KL Rahul, after parting ways with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has expressed openness to returning to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

KL Rahul Open To RCB Return: KL Rahul has left Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction and it has sparked widespread speculation about which franchise the star Indian batter might join for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. Following his departure from LSG, Rahul has expressed that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is the one team that he has enjoyed the most playing for in his IPL career so far.

In a video for Star Sports titled ‘KLRahul Unplugged’, Rahul said that he felt the best playing for RCB, given that Bengaluru is also his home and he gets to spend a lot of time there.

"I most enjoyed playing at RCB. It’s home. You get to spend a lot of time to spend at home. I know the Chinnaswamy really well, I have grown up playing there. So, yeah, I really enjoyed playing at RCB," KL Rahul told Star Sports.

Bengaluru Is Home: KL Rahul

When asked about a potential return to RCB, KL Rahul expressed excitement, saying Bengaluru feels like home and he would love the opportunity.

"Of course (Would you like to be back at RCB?) Bengaluru is home. People there know me as a local Kannada boy. Would be nice to go back there and get an opportunity. But, yeah, it’s an auction year, you can go anywhere," he said.

"I just want to be part of a team that has a good environment, and you feel loved, cared for and respected in that environment and everyone on that franchise as a one, like one single goal to win. If that's there, then that's a perfect fit,” he said further.

Rahul, who played for RCB from 2013 to 2016, said that captaincy will not be a deal-breaker for him in the upcoming season. He emphasised that he wouldn't seek the role but would gladly accept it if a team values his leadership based on his experience over the past few years.

"I would never go and ask someone for it (captaincy). If you feel that my leadership skills are good enough, and you find something good in the way I play my cricket, in the way I handle myself and in the way that I handled the teams that I've captained in the last four or five years, and if you find it worthy, then, of course, I'm happy to do it, but it's not something that is a make-a-break for me," Rahul said.
