Pakistan Fans Pelting Stones On Indian Team? Old Video Of 1997 ODI Resurfaces On 'X' | WATCH
As things get tense between PCB and BCCI in concern with travelling and security issues for ICC Champions Trophy 2025, an old video of Pak fans pelting stones on Indian team resurfaces on 'X'. WATCH.
We are less than 3 months away from the return of ICC Champions Trophy after a period of eight years, as the 2025 edition is all-set to take place in Pakistan. However, a huge ongoing rift between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are making things a bit worrying and tense, as the latter has expressed its concern with the security threat that looms around the Indian Cricket Team (ICT) in their potential visit to Pakistan.
As several reports have come out stating that there might be change in venue or Indian team opting out of the concern, an old video has resurfaced on ‘X’, which has now made the matters even worse.
The video depicts the infamous incident of 1997 at the National Bank Stadium of Karachi, where hosts Pakistan took on India in an ODI match of the then-ongoing series.
During the first innings of the match, Indian fielders reported the issue of Pakistan fans and crowd present at the stadium disturbing the match, as there were few incidents of stone pelting taking place at the venue.
Things took a toll on the Indian side when Sourav Ganguly, alongside Sachin Tendulkar and rest of the team, decided to walk off the field in the 48th over, after reporting yet another ‘stone pelting incident’ to the umpires by handing them the stone which was thrown at the fielders by the Pakistan crowd.

Sourav Ganguly's Impressive 89 Blew Away Pakistan In ODI No. 1234
As iconic as the number 1234 sounds, the similar type of match was played accordingly, which included crowd trouble, stone pelting, Shahid Afridi’s fearsome 72, but the headlines were stolen by a then-young Sourav Ganguly, who scored a match-winning 89 that shattered Pakistan’s hopes of winning the match.
Within a period of 20 days, the fierce rivals played 20 ODI's across two continents, as the sides travelled to Pakistan after their conclusion of series in Toronto.
Pakistan won the first ODI by 5 wickets, and were on the verge of taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, but Sourav Ganguly had other plans, as he smashed the likes of Waqar Younis, Shahid Afridi, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Aaqib Javed to deliver a famous 4-wicket win.
