IPL Playoffs: RCB & 3 Other Teams Emerge As Strongest Contenders

RCB are well-placed to make the playoffs. Their form and home advantage make them the top contender for a last-four finish.

The competition for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoff spots is intensifying. Royal Challengers Bangalore currently lead the table, while Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals remain strong contenders. Punjab Kings, just outside the top four, are also in the hunt with favorable conditions ahead.

IPL Playoffs prediction: RCB among top 4 favorites to qualify

1. Royal Challengers Bangalore – Strongest Playoff Contender

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), led by Rajat Patidar, sit at the top with 14 points from 10 matches (7 wins, 3 losses). With four games remaining — two of which are at their home ground, Chinnaswamy Stadium — RCB are well-placed to make the playoffs. Their form and home advantage make them the top contender for a last-four finish.

2. Mumbai Indians (MI)

Mumbai Indians, under Hardik Pandya's captaincy, have bounced back with five straight wins. They now have 12 points from 10 matches, having won six. With four matches left, including two at home, MI need just two more wins to likely secure qualification. Their momentum gives them a solid edge.

3. Gujarat Titans (GT)

Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, have shown great balance, winning six out of nine matches. They currently sit at third with 12 points and have five matches remaining — three at home in the Narendra Modi Stadium. Just four more points could be enough to seal their playoff berth.

4. Punjab Kings (PBKS) – Slightly Behind, But in Control

DC is currently in fourth spot in point table with 12 points. Punjab Kings are fifth with 11 points from nine matches (including one no result). Despite being just outside the top four, their path to the playoffs looks promising. With five matches left — including three at home — and Delhi playing most of their remaining games away, Punjab have a clear opportunity to surge ahead. Aiming for at least 17 points, they remain strong playoff contenders.
