IPL 2025 Set To Resume With LSG vs RCB Clash In Lucknow: Report

IPL 2025 is likely to resume on May 16 or 17 with the LSG vs RCB match in Lucknow, following the India-Pakistan ceasefire.

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to resume on May 16 or 17 with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium, according to a PTI report. The match was originally scheduled for May 9 before the tournament was suspended.

Following the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, discussions regarding the resumption of IPL 2025 are in progress. Although the BCCI has not issued an official confirmation yet, the tournament is likely to restart on May 16 (Friday) or May 17 (Saturday).

The PTI report states that all teams have been asked to recall their players, with the IPL set to resume in Lucknow and the final schedule to be announced on Monday.

“All the teams have been asked to call back their players, the tournament will resume either on May 16 or 17 in Lucknow. The final schedule will be shared tomorrow (Monday)," a source told PTI.

"Most likely the matches will be held at four venues and Delhi and Dharamsala won't get to host more matches. All the equipment has already been removed from these venues," adds the PTI report.

IPL 2025 Final May Move Out Of Kolkata

The report adds that while there are no changes to the venues for Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, which are scheduled to be held in Hyderabad, Kolkata may lose out on hosting the final — likely on June 1 — due to a rain forecast. If needed, the final could be shifted to Ahmedabad.

"As of now there is no change in venues for the play-off stage but it seems rain can affect the final in Kolkata. In that case the final could be played in Ahmedabad."

For those unaware, IPL 2025 was suspended for a week following Pakistan's violation of Indian airspace through drone and missile attacks, prompting the organisers to halt the tournament. The BCCI announced the suspension shortly after Match No. 58 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was disrupted midway in Dharamsala due to rising cross-border tensions.
