The injury occurred while facing England's fast bowler Jofra Archer. Despite this setback, Samson is expected to recover in time for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, Sanju Samson underwent surgery on Tuesday, and his rehabilitation is expected to take about a month. Due to the injury, he was ruled out of Kerala's Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Jammu and Kashmir in Pune on February 8.
