IPL 2024 Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap: It was a double-header in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday (May 5). While the first of the twin clashes witnessed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 28 runs at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, in the second fixture of the day, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat registered a 98-run victory against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
It was a fairly convincing win for both CSK and KKR. While CSK were invited to bat first and only managed to post 167/9 in their 20 overs which did not seem enough at the halfway stage, they were able to defend the target comfortable, restricting PBKS to 139/9. In the evening game too, LSG invited KKR to bat first after which Sunil Narine's blistering 81 off 39 took the Knights to 235/6, a total which they were able to defend well, bowling LSG for 137.
