IPL 2022: Aaditya Thackeray Holds Meeting With BCCI & Police ‘To Ensure Smooth Flow’ Of IPL In Mumbai

The officers of police and municipal corporations of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai were also present in the meeting.

New Delhi: Maharashtra ministers Eknath Shinde and Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday conducted a joint meeting with officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ensure smooth flow of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The officers of police and municipal corporations of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai were also present in the meeting.

“To ensure the smooth flow of the @IPL, Minister @mieknathshinde ji and I conducted a joint meeting of IPL, @BCCI with officers of Police and Municipal Corporations of Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai,” Thackeray tweeted sharing an image of the meeting.

Thackeray said the IPL coming to Maharashtra is a huge boost for the country as well as the state.

“IPL coming to Maharashtra ensures that the games aren’t played overseas. This is a huge boost for the country, as well as Maharashtra in terms of economy, morale and for the passion of cricket fans,” Thackeray tweeted.

“For Pune, the meeting will be held soon, proposed to be chaired by DCM sir to ensure that the tournament is successfully carried out in all our city venues,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.

The 2022 edition of the IPL begins on March 26 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

The season consists of 74 matches as two new sides – the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans – make their debut in the IPL this year.

The tournament also sees a return of the group format where ten teams are divided into group of five.

The final of the IPL tournament is scheduled on May 29.
