IPL 2021: 8 Teams Announce Captains, Only 2 Change Skippers

Teams have announced who their captains would be in IPL 2021. Read the full article to find out which teams have changed their captains.

Indian Premier League (IPL) begins on April 9, 2021. The first match of the 14th edition will be played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. While six teams have gone with the same captains as of last year, two teams have decided to change their captains.

Delhi Capitals’ captain Shreyas Iyer got injured during India vs England series and was ruled out of the IPL 2021. Rishabh Pant was selected to lead the DC side in 2021. While the second team to change their captain is Rajasthan Royals. RR laid off Steve Smith before the Auction 2021 and chose the youngster from Kerala, Sanju Samson to lead their side.

Experience the of IPL Captains:

MS Dhoni is the most experienced captain in IPL history, who has experience of captaining 177 matches. Dhoni has won 105 matches while losing 71 matches. One match was inconclusive. At number two is Virat Kohli, who has won 50 matches with RCB, captaining 112 matches, but the team has lost in 56 matches. At the same time, 2 matches were tied and 4 matches were inconclusive.

At number three is Rohit Sharma, who captained the Mumbai Indians in 106 matches, out of which 61 matches have been won by the team, while 43 matches have been lost. There have also been two tied matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has experience of 63 matches, having won 34 matches while losing 28 matches and a single tied match. At number five is KL Rahul, who has won 5 out of 14 matches and lost seven matches. There has also been a tie.

Eoin Morgan is sixth in IPL 2021 with the most experience as a captain, having captained seven matches for KKR, winning 2 matches and losing 4 matches. At the same time, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson and Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant have no captaincy experience. At the same time, the list of trophy winners only includes Rohit Sharma (5 times), MS Dhoni (3 times) and David Warner (once).
