IPL 2020 Records: SRH Skipper David Warner Scripts History, Becomes First Foreign Player To Score 5000 Runs In IPL

IPL 2020 Records: Today, David Warner came to bat at No.4 during the match against KKR. In IPL 2020, Warner has consistently batted as an opener. But in the match against KKR, the SRH skipper decided to bat at No. 4 under a different strategy.

David Warner on Sunday became the first foreign player to get to 5000 IPL runs during Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders match at Abu Dhabi. Warner is only behind Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma in the run-scoring charts. Apart from this, Warner also made a record which yet again proved that he is one of the best batsman in the tournament. Warner broke Virat Kohli's record to become the fastest batsman to score 5000 runs in the history of IPL. The Aussie opener attained the fabulous milestone in IPL, playing only his 135th innings. Warner missed a half-century against Kolkata and ended up scoring an unbeaten 47 from 33 balls with the help of five fours. With this, Warner crossed five thousand runs (5037) in the IPL. Rohit had scored 5000 IPL runs in 187 innings. Also, Suresh Raina was successful in making 5000 IPL runs in 173 innings. Warner has so far scored 4 centuries and 46 half-centuries in the IPL. Warner also has scored highest 50 plus scores in IPL. He is the third batsman to score the most centuries in the IPL. In the IPL, Chris Gayle (6) and Virat Kohli (5) have scored more centuries than Warner. It was under David Warner's captaincy, Hyderabad was successful in winning the 2016 IPL title. Today, Warner came to bat at No.4 during the match against KKR. In IPL 2020, Warner has consistently batted as an opener. The last time he batted in the middle order was in May 2014 and scored 608 runs in 20 innings at an average of 43.43 with a strike rate of 130.19. In the first match of the double header on Sunday, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bowl first. Kolkata, batting first, scored 163 runs at the loss of five wickets. In reply, the Hyderabad team also scored 163 runs after losing six wickets. The match went down to super over, where Kolkata emerged victorious.
