Chennai Super Kings are placed in Group B along with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings for IPL 2023. Last year's IPL was quite disappointing for the franchise, as they lost their first seven games, ending up the season at ninth position after end of league stage. Dhoni has been with franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ever since the first season of IPL was played in 2008. In 2016, when CSK was banned for 2 years, Dhoni played for Rising Pune SuperGiants.
Speculations are rife about 2023 season set to be MS Dhoni's last IPL. As per Chennai Super Kings pace bowler Deepak Chahar, four-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winning captain could play in the next couple of seasons as well.
"No one has said that this would be his final year. At least, he hasn’t. Hopefully, he will play more. We don’t know any such thing; we want him to play as much as he can," Chahar told News India Sports when asked if IPL 2023 will be the last for Dhoni.
"He knows when to retire; we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play; it’s a privilege to play under him. It has been a dream to play with him. He’s in good touch as well; you will see that when he bats in the IPL this year," Chahar added.
